Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

TMS uses a targeted pulsed magnetic field, similar to what is used in an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) machine, all while the patient is awake and alert. TMS Therapy stimulates areas of the brain that are underactive in depression.

Dr. DeCarvalho was recently interviewed by NBC to discuss the recent abduction and murder of Cherish Perrywinkle. This has sent chills throughout our community and devastated a family. Dr. DeCarvalho tells us why this man should have been admitted into a facility for psychological evaluation and treatment. Had our system taken a more responsible role in treating this man, Cherish would still be with us today.

Dr. DeCarvalho discusses some of the issues with the shooter in an attempt to shed light on why this happened. There is no reason for this kind of evil but unfortunately it does exist. The best that we can do is to learn and grow from these challenging situations with the hope that we can keep it from happening again in the future.

Dr. Marcus De Carvalho completed his psychiatry training at the State University of New York in Syracuse and the University of South Florida. Our office is conveniently located off of Wells Road in Orange Park, Florida very close to Orange Park Hospital.
